These Items are NOT RATED for any suspension or lifting activity.


They were originally designed for use with cattle or horses, in order to be able to release them if they are panicking and causing harm to themselves.

Although not rated, It is often used with relatively light weight items to allow for quick release if needed.

And again although NOT rated, they have been used for careful suspension or rigging of people who may need to be released quickly. They should not be used as a load bearing point.

That said they can be used for non-load bearing points, so as to make it faster to release the ropes, Examples are for use on the sides of spider web style rope matrix, while the actual weight bearing suspension points are using rated suspension points and connectors. They can also be used in activities where the feet (and thus most of the weight) remain on the floor or in bed or floor, so that a person can be released quickly (and potentially release themselves in an emergency)

SAFETY NOTE: If using with a person, always fully support the weight of the person before releasing the Panic Snap (and once again they are not warranted or rated for this kind of activity, we just know that a lot of people do use them for that). Although we have personally tested them with 350 lbs of people bouncing with them as the primary support, it was an unscientific test and the variance is such between pieces we can't even guarantee that. We highly recommend using rated quick release shackles for suspending people or fragile items, even if significantly more expensive.

Trivia: We are offering these because we were at a recent event and brought some by themselves along kind of on a lark along with some rated shackles (different listing). We sold out and at least three people told us they were hard to find. they are easy to find for us, so we are offering them here.

The 1" Version designed to handle up to 1" wide leather strapping, Nylon Webbing, or similar set of rope or straps.

The 5/8" Version is designed for ropes up to 5/8", although from a practical standpoint 1/2" diameter ropes is the suggested limit.
